TESLIN SHEET CONFIGURATIONS
If you produce or buy cards, Teslin® synthetic printing sheet
is the material for you. Teslin sheet is used in every conceivable
type of card application including:
-
Security Cards, i.e., national ID cards, voter registration cards,
police ID cards, border crossing cards, drivers licenses, visas,
gun permits, etc.
- Loyalty Cards
- Prepaid Phone Cards
Teslin®
sheet forms exceptionally strong laminating bonds in multi-layer
cards. It can be printed using nearly any combination of fixed and
variable printing methods. For example, you can print fixed information
via offset or flexo printing, then print variable information using
thermal transfer, laser or ink jet. These unique characteristics
make Teslin® sheet the standard by which card systems are measured
in terms of durability and cost performance. To read more about

All cards are held in place with micro perforations. We guarantee
these cards & photo wells will strip out cleanly because we
use only the highest quality dies and inspect them regularly for
defects. These cards will work great in your inkjet printers and
will also work in most laser printers. All cards are available in
single or dual core. These sheets will also work great with your
computerized ID system!
Laser Teslin works with all printers. You will obtain better print
quality on inkjet printers by using Inkjet Teslin. Inkjet Teslin
has a coating that dramatically improves the print quality. The
coating is on both sides, delivering photo-quality printing on both
the front and back. Use Inkjet Teslin only with Inkjet printers.

HELPFUL HINTS
Feed Teslin Sheets into your printer using the manual feed slot.
As with any material, printer jams are possible. To minimize jamming,
always feed one sheet at a time. We have heard of Teslin jams in
the fuser assembly of laser printers. Use
at your own risk. Laser printers are used every day to
successfully print on Teslin. We use laser printers to print on
Teslin, as well as ink jet printers, and offset presses. If using
perforated sheets, feed the short edge into the printer.
Since Avant does not control the coating of ANY of the teslin,
all teslin items are non-returnable.
We suggest that any issues with the teslin be directed to the manufacturing
company directly PPG at 412-434-2175. PPG is the only company that
manufactures the teslin and the quality and performance of the product
is totally under their control.

CAUTIONS USING TESLIN
InkJet Teslin
PPG has made changes to Inkjet Teslin. We returned many thousands
of sheets to PPG for replacement and we now have the new materials.
The print results you obtain will be different than past results.
You will need to adjust printer settings to obtain the best results.
We list directly below starting points for some printers. These
are our suggestions only. Since the material
has changed, we can not accept materials back as this material is
now the standard for PPG's IJ1000 Inkjet Teslin. If you
have problems with the material we suggest you call PPG Tech Support
at 412-434-2175. We have tested with a Canon S800, HP 950C, Epson
SC 800, Epson C82, and Epson SC Photo 2200. We selected mid to high
end printers for testing and we have other dealers testing for us
also. We will post their results as we receive them. Please also
forward your test results and we post them to our site to help other
who have the same or similar printers. Our results and comments
are listed below.
HP 950C
Our test results show this printer prints reasonably well when set
for the highest quality setting and Bright White Paper. Setting
the printer for photo papers results in smearing and colors will
bleed together.
Canon S800
This used to be our favorite printer for printing on Inkjet Teslin.
Not anymore. We obtained the decent results when setting the printer
for the highest resolution and Transparency as the paper type.
Epson SC800
This is an older printer but is still widely used. We obtained the
best results by setting the printer to the highest resolution and
paper type to Photo Quality Glossy paper.
Epson C82
This printer uses Epson's DuraBrite Inks. This printer has a price
of $149 and will do a good job on just about everything you throw
at it. The DuraBrite inks are not just dye based but are pigmented.
This printer even does a good job on regular laser Teslin. This
a great letter size inkjet printer.
Epson Stylus Color Photo 2200
This is an expensive high quality printer that also uses pigmented
inks. It will also do a good job on everything you throw at it.
This printer can print on up to 13" x 19" sheets, laser
or inkjet Teslin. This is a fantastic large format printer.
If you are going to purchase a new printer we would suggest the
Epson C82 for most uses, and the Epson SC2200 if you need a printer
that can print larger sheets and archival quality photos.
Keep in mind that all inkjet printers are optimized for particular
papers. Matching colors with process printing is time consuming
as the full gamut of colors can not be reproduced with process printing.
We have offset presses to pre-print logos on Teslin when exact PMS
colors must be matched. Set-up, artwork, and plate charges will
apply to pre-printed offset printed sheets. A minimum of 500 sheet
orders are required for offset printing. Email us your artwork and
we will offer a quotation within one business day. The Epson C82
and Epson SC Photo 2200 will give you the longest lasting prints,
as the inks in these printers are archival quality. We suggest you
first try to utilize regular laser Teslin as the laminating bond
is best on uncoated Teslin.
Since we do not control the coating on
InkJet Teslin, the product is not returnable. We suggest
that any issues with the 'new' InkJet Teslin be directed to PPG
at 412-434-2175. PPG is the only company that manufactures Teslin
and the quality and performance of the product is under their control.
Inkjet Teslin Improvement:
The lamination strength is improved over past InkJet Teslin offerings.
